A Cleaner Clear – 5th Year – Keeping it Trashy

If you are the jerk who took the time to shove their couch into my favorite pond on Clear Creek, we are gonna find you and feed you to the carp. Yes, friends, someone did this, and that’s not the worst part. The couch barely smells like pee at all! This could be someone’s treasure! (Or police evidence) Seeing this giant hunk of junk next to a creek where crappie and largemouth frolic in the late evening dusk set me off, but it also reminded me that we need to get A Cleaner Clear on the calendar. And we have.

September 21, 2024 at Twin lakes Park 226 W 70th Ave., Denver, CO 80221. Put it on your calendars.

How do we celebrate our 5th year as a bunch of crazy people who believe in clean rivers? We go out and pick up trash like our rivers depend on it (because they do). Then we knock back some Pizza Hut pizza and beers (and sodas and water) and give away a few prizes from people who believe in this madness we do every year.

Last year we had a record turnout 152 volunteers, and cleaned up everything from tires to Tecate cans. Adams County continues to support our efforts in the most incredible ways and the sponsor list continues to grow. The gratitude we have for these like minded folks can’t be expressed enough, but they will have to settle for a post or two and a hand-written thank you card. They all know what we are doing isn’t easy but is 100% necessary.

It’s been a year since we tackled this nasty stretch of Clear Creek and trash just seems to reappear like a wart you just can’t get rid of. You all have made an incredible difference over the last four years and the legend of this cleanup grows. The impact our volunteers and sponsors have made continues to be inspiring! Hope you can make it this year.

So put September 21 on your calendar and pass the word to your friends and neighbors. Free food, Epic Western Ranch Water, cleaning up your earth, and building community. What else could you ask for? How about hot and cold brew from Prodigy Coffeehouse, beers from Great Divide, water from Denver Water, and prizes from Rep Your WaterRovr CoolersAnglers AllTopo Designs,  Urban AnglersStranahansEpic Western Ranch WaterFishpond,  UmpquaThrivent FinancialHistory Colorado CenterThe Drake MagazineRiversmithYo ColoradoPatagoniaScoops Ice CreamTattered CoverGrand SalonGreat Divide BreweryDenver Water, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Eagle Claw, Yo Colorado, Improper City, The Estes Paw Company, ABC Imaging, Keep Nature Wild, and many more.
