!!! 3rd Freaking Annual – A Cleaner Clear !!!

Time to get your hands dirty and your water clean. Clear Creek needs your love again this year because some people just aren’t getting the memo about the ill effects of trashing the planet. Seems to me another show of organized action is in order. This year we are doubling our efforts and teaming with other like-minded folks and cleaning up over 2 miles of riverbank, bike trails and riparian areas.

When: October 8, 9am – 1pm

Where: Twin Lakes Park. 226-318 W 70th Ave., Denver, CO 80221

We are once again teaming with Adams County and our favorite water loving businesses this year and adding a few who also love clean water. Prodigy Coffee is supplying much needed trash grabbing fuel in the form of gourmet caffeine, Trouts Flyfishing, Fishpond, Grand Salon, Urban Anglers, Scoops Ice Cream, Umpqua, Stranahan’s, and so many others are donating some insane prizes, and Denver Trout Unlimited is pulling together volunteers and getting the word out. A Riversmith River Quiver will be given away to a hard working individual and second prize will walk away with a new fly rod and reel setup from Trouts!! Are you kidding me? Oh, and there will be beers from Great Divide and cocktails from Epic Western to celebrate our hard work!

Our friends at Adam’s County have been amazing over the last two years in helping organize pick up of all the bags and debris the volunteers have been yanking out of the creek. They’ve also provided trash bags and much needed support in getting through the red tape associated with other lovely government entities.

It’s easier to sign up than throwing your McDonalds bag out the car window. And your arteries will thank you. What can be better? Getting exercise, cleaning up your planet, free food and booze, and winning prizes. Sign up and pass along to other cool folks!

I grew up in the middle of nowhere Texas. The nearest Walmart was a full two hours away. My family still runs a ranch back home that I grew up on, but at some point in my treasured youth I hung up the idea of becoming a cowboy, and pursued my passion for architecture. Today I still find myself trying to fit in to a life that has treated me with the average ups and downs one can expect after a certain number of years. My wife and I moved to Denver after attending Texas Tech School of Architecture in Lubbock as we needed a grade change from the Llano Estacado. We camp with our three growing girls all summer and into the fall while I write and create and fly fish to maintain sanity. Life is moving fast as our careers and children progress in all areas, so being outdoors with each other keeps us mostly grounded.
