Sorry REI, but you just go ahead and stick to the lightweight granola backpacker gear. Kelty has the complete camp chair figured out. Probably why REI sells them as well. They kick ass. I ended up replacing most of our camp chairs with the Discovery Lowdown Chair. We’ve had the older model for years and besides the fire ember holes melted in the arms they have stood up to three kids, several dogs, and hundreds of nights in heavy outdoor use. I ordered them off of Backcountry though but it’s the same price from REI.

Once you flop down in this chair, make damn sure you don’t need to get up for another drink or to pee in the woods. You will find it too comfortable to rise, no matter the emergency. On top of the sturdy design is functionality for a comfort-loving camper like myself. The arm on the right sports a cup holder, and wait for it….another compartment for your phone! That’s right. They were thinking about us who like to snap photos and look at AllTrails.com while sipping Fireside Bourbon in front of a roaring campfire. Runs $59 and is worth every penny.
